2025 IKCS: North America Honors Three Outstanding Doctors
The 2025 International Kidney Cancer Symposium: North America will feature three special awards honoring standout members of the kidney cancer community. The meeting will take place in Denver, Colorado from November 13-15. Register now.

Dr. Michael Jewett
Dr. Michael Jewett receives the Nicholas J. Vogelzang Humanitarian Award, named in honor of the KCA’s late co-founder and Board member, for outstanding service and compassion to his patients, colleagues, the KCA, and the wider kidney cancer community. He also received the KCA’s Andrew C. Novick Award in 2019 for excellence in urology care.
Dr. Jewett is a Professor of Surgery (Urology) at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and at the University of Toronto. He is also the immediate past chair of the International Kidney Cancer Coalition’s Board of Directors and Medical Advisory Board. For his “life-saving innovations in surgical oncology and for his advocacy of patient-centred critical care,” Dr. Jewett was appointed to the Order of Canada, one of the country’s highest civilian honors.

Dr. E. Jason Abel
Dr. E. Jason Abel is the Chief of Urologic Oncology, Professor of Urology and Radiology, and the Robert F. and Dolores K Schnoes Chairin Urologic Research at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. The Novick award recognizes healthcare professionals who have made significant contributions over the course of their careers in urology for the treatment of kidney cancer.

Dr. Abhishek Chakraborty
Dr. Abhishek Chakraborty, PhD, leads his own research lab as an Assistant Staff in the Department of Cancer Biology and a member of the Genitourinary Malignancies Research Center at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute. The Rising Star award recognizes talented young kidney cancer experts in honor of the KCA’s late Board Chair and friend, Dr. Christopher G. Wood.
