One-on-One Help from KCA’s Patient Liaison

A kidney cancer diagnosis can be life changing. The Kidney Cancer Association is here to help the kidney cancer community by providing one-on-one help to answer questions, share resources, and provide support.

You can contact us by:

  • Requests will be reviewed within 2 business days
  • Responses will be sent via email unless you check you would like a phone call (text messaging is not available)
  • Email communication is only available in English

Calls may be answered live Monday-Friday from 10:00am-5:30pm ET

If the Patient Liaison is unavailable to take your call, please leave a detailed message with the below information:

  • Your name, relationship to kidney cancer (and loved one’s name if calling on their behalf), and zip code (to help identify local resources)
  • Best phone number to reach you
  • What type of information you’re looking for (see below for types of information that the Patient Navigator Program can and cannot provide)
  • The day and time that works best for a call back
  • If detailed information can be left in a voicemail

General Notes:

  • Be sure your voicemail can receive messages
  • Messages will be reviewed within 2 business days
  • The KCA uses a telephone language interpreting service, so we can speak to you in your language. Email communication will be in English only.

KCA CAN Provide Help With:

  • Side effects because of treatment
  • Finding a doctor in your area

Support:

  • Information about support groups
  • 1:1 support from another cancer patient
  • Help for caregivers
  • Looking for a therapist or counselor

Information About Organizations That Can Help With:

  • Medical bills
  • Prescriptions costs
  • Insurance premiums
  • Transportation to appointments
  • Housing and lodging during treatment
  • Paying your mortgage or rent
  • Paying your utilities
  • Securing food

KCA CANNOT Provide Help With:

  • Assisting during a medical emergency or mental health crisis
  • Giving specific advice about your kidney cancer diagnosis, treatment plan, and/or symptoms
  • Scheduling appointments for you with kidney cancer doctors or making specific recommendations on what doctor you should see
  • Reviewing your medical records, including pathology or radiology reports
  • Completing disability, insurance, financial, or other forms related to your kidney cancer diagnosis
  • Providing help with a non-kidney cancer diagnosis
