Kidney Cancer Awareness Month has come to a close. We are ending the month in a very different place than we started and amid the spread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19, how to stay safe and well is surely top of mind for many, especially those impacted by kidney cancer.

In this extraordinary time, we still celebrate the achievements of our community, from the researchers exploring new treatments, the doctors and nurses who are on the front-lines trying to keep their patients safe and improving, the patients and caregivers facing the daily challenge of living with kidney cancer, and the families and friends who continue to honor the people they lost to this disease.

This month, we shared personal stories of inspiring people:

We launched a fresh new website that is easy to navigate and an accessible home for the programs and services we will launch this year.

Mayor Sylvester Turner granted a a proclamation declaring March ‘Kidney Cancer Awareness Month for the entire City of Houston, home of the KCA’s HQ. (pictured with the board of directors)

Three members of the KCA’s Board of Directors published pieces in a “Future of Cancer Care” package focused on kidney cancer.

Our grant program is firmly in place and open for applications from innovative researchers who aim to make significant differences in kidney cancer science and patient care and treatment.

And in addition to Kidney Cancer Awareness Month, we recognized Caregiver Appreciation Day, International Women’s Day, Patient Safety Awareness Week, World Kidney Day, Registered Dietician Day, and National Doctors’ Day – the last a particularly poignant salute.

This month, the KCA received 98 donations totaling over $27,000. We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of the kidney cancer community and those who took the time to support our vision to be the universal leader in finding the cure for kidney cancer. There is still an opportunity to show your support.

Thank you for celebrating along with us this month and for the opportunity to continue serving you. We’re #UnstoppableTogether.
