The Kidney Cancer Association recommends finding a specialist at a National Cancer Institute (NCI) Designated Cancer Center. The NCI established standards for cancer prevention, patient care, and research. These centers employ experts diagnosing, treating, and researching cancer, including kidney cancer.

There are 51 centers, designated as Comprehensive Cancer Centers that meet all three standards in cancer prevention, patient care, and research. There are 13 additional centers that meet the NCI standards in at least one of the three areas providing great care to people living with cancer.
