Note: the next grant cycle (2017-2018) has been delayed due to complications from Hurricane Irma and is expected to commence on or around October 31, 2017. The Request for Proposals (RFP) will be posted here at the end of October, and awards will be announced in March, 2018.
The Young Investigator Award (YIA) provides funding to promising investigators to encourage and promote quality research in urology and clinical oncology. The purpose of this grant is to fund physicians and scientists during the transition from a fellowship program to a faculty appointment. Awards given are based on individual merit and availability of funds.
The Young Investigator Award (YIA) is a one-year research grant totaling $50,000, paid in two equal installments to the awardee’s institution. Applicants must have attained a post-graduate degree or a doctoral degree (MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent) and currently be within the last two years of his/her final subspecialty training at an academic medical institution at the time of grant submission. Applicants should be planning an investigative career in kidney cancer.
2017-2018 KCA YIA applications are accepted beginning September 30, 2017. For guidance from last year’s RFP, please read KCA-YIA-DOC-Rev.-3 07-19-2016 (RFP). KCA has also made YIA grants through the Conquer Cancer Foundation (of ASCO) and Urology Care Foundation (of AUA). For information on these, please visit each organization’s website.
KCA YIA grant application process is freely adapted from that of Conquer Cancer Foundation. The KCA YIA is independent from this award. Please direct questions concerning the Young Investigator Award to us by email only.
